Our Story
What began as a simple desire to create better products for her own family became the foundation for something much bigger.
How We Became A Brand
On an August day back in 2023, our founder, Calli, found herself reading the ingredient list on the back of her favorite body wash. Curious about the unfamiliar ingredients, she began researching what was in the products she had used for years. She started questioning why we are so mindful of what we put into our bodies, yet often give little thought to what we put on them.
Wanting something better for her own family, Calli decided to make her own soap. She began crafting cold-process bars in her kitchen using simple, thoughtfully chosen ingredients. What started as a personal passion soon grew into a small business, with her handmade soaps finding homes through local farmers markets.
As she mastered the art of soap making, Calli realized she didn't want to stop at soap. She wanted to create more products for the body, the home, and everyday life that were thoughtfully formulated, intentionally made, and rooted in nature.
And from that little kitchen came Barnes Hill.
FROM HER 100 SQ. FT. KITCHEN TO A STUDIO/STOREFRONT
As Barnes Hill soaps continued to grow in popularity at farmer’s markets, so did our product line.
What began with handmade, cold-process soap (formerly Barnes Hill Soap Co.) soon expanded into more markets, online sales in 2024, and eventually our very own store. Along the way, Calli began formulating an entire line of skincare—from nourishing serums and lotions to lip balms and everything in between—made with carefully chosen, organic ingredients and created with your whole family in mind.
Today, Barnes Hill is a self-serve store with our production studio right in the back, where every product is made from start to finish. Nothing is mass-produced and shipped to us, and our products aren’t made by someone else under the Barnes Hill name. Calli personally formulates every product, and our small team handcrafts each batch right here at home.
From formulation to pouring, labeling, and packaging, we know exactly what goes into every product that carries the Barnes Hill name. What started as a desire to make better soap has grown into a place where we can create simple, thoughtfully made products for you and your family—all rooted in nature and made with intention.

Barnes Hill was created for the woman who wants better for herself and her family. The one who wants products made with ingredients she can recognize, without the unnecessary extras—and wants to feel confident in what she’s bringing into her home.
